Further information will be sent soon in the Bulletin No. 3.
For those arriving by plane at the Marco Polo Airport which is
located about 13 km from Venice the easiest way to reach Venice is via
sea taking a boat (Lancione), to the Air Terminal at the
"Piazzetta San Marco". It costs abt. Lit. 17.000 and it takes abt.
1 hour 10 minutes. The Lancione connects with all flights.
The "Piazzetta San Marco" is at a walking distance from
the "Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti" and the Hotel
Europa & Regina.
For those arriving by train at the Railway Station or by car at
the parking garage at Piazzale Roma there are several possibilities.
To go directly to the "Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti"
one can take the Vaporetto, Line 1 or Line 82 (every 10
minutes from 7:00 until 21:00; every 20/30 minutes afterwards) to the
stop Accademia. From there one has to cross the "Ponte
dell'Accademia" and walk more-or-less directly to the Campo S.
Stefano. To go to the Hotel Europa & Regina, on the other hand, one
can also take the Vaporetto, Line 1 or Line 82, to the stop
Calle Vallaresso, near Piazza San Marco. The Hotel is a five
minute walk, more-or-less to the left, over the "Ponte San Moisè".
Venice in February is particularly attractive and the situation
concerning hotel accommodation is always very tight. As usual, a
number of rooms have been reserved for the Workshop participants at
reduced rates at the Hotel Europa & Regina - San Marco 2159,
Venice, a top class comfortable Hotel on the Grand Canal, at a walking
distance (about 5 minutes) from Piazza San Marco and close to the
"Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti".
We apologize if it would turn out to be impossible to satisfy all
applications. Those wishing to stay at the Hotel Europa &
Regina are urged to reserve their accommodation.
Participants are expected to arrive in Venice on Monday, February
22. The Registration Desk (at the Workshop Site) will be open on
Monday from 16:00 until 18:00.
On Tuesday, February 23, 1999, the secretariat will be open at 8:30
for registration.
The Conference Fee is US Dollars 400 (Lit.
650.000). It includes a copy of the Proceedings, the Lunches and
the Conference Dinner.
